The purpose of Chihuahua Rescue and Transport (CRT) is to extend public education and awareness regarding abuse and neglect. In 2007, CRT placed several hundred Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes in approved homes. CRT requires an application, vet check, reference check and home visit for each adopter.
CRT does not warehouse dogs in a shelter. As in most rescue groups, their dogs are cared for in healthy, safe, loving foster home environments. CRT foster parents work very hard to be sure that their foster dog feels safe and loved while working on housetraining, crate training, socialization, etc. All their dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, fecal tested, microchipped, on heartworm preventative and have all other veterinary needs taken care of (such as heartworm treatment, dentals, luxating patellas, etc.) CRT is known, and has always been known, for taking the injured, infirm and elderly Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. Please consider the adoption of one of these dogs as well. Seniors and special needs dogs make great pets too! Donations are needed and accepted through their website.

Angel's Gate Hospice for Animals is a residential, non-profit, 501 (C) 3 home for special needs animals. At Angel's Gate, animals, many of whom are terminally and/or critically ill or physically challenged, come to live out their days in peace, dignity and love. The focus of Angel's Gate is on wellness and quality of life. They provide for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each animal. They take a holistic approach in animal care, giving all needed supportive services including hospice care.
Currently, Angel's Gate cares for some 200 individuals of many species. These include dogs, cats, parrots, ponies, ducks, swan, pigeons, geese, chickens and rabbits. Donations are needed and accepted through their website.
Memphis Animal Clinic was established in the early 1930s by Dr. Midaugh. Through the 40s and 50s it was remodeled by Dr. JL Wright. During the late 60s and early 70s it was operated by Dr. Opfer. Since April 1, 1976 Dr. Stephen R Tower has been the veterinarian and owner. He also has a partner vet in the office, Dr. Regina Maddux. Both Dr. Tower and Dr. Maddux and great doctors.
Today Memphis Animal Clinic is a small animal hospital with a variety of services to meet the pet owner's needs. They provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. They also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor boarding kennels with outdoor walking areas.
